Duolingo POP-UP STORE NEWYORK

Duolingo, the popular language-learning app, has opened its first pop-up store in New York City's Soho neighborhood, offering visitors a chance to engage with the brand in a physical space. The store, located on Grand Street, is a 600-square-foot retail experience that features limited-edition merchandise such as bright green Crocs inspired by the company's mascot, Duo, priced around $70 per pair.

The pop-up store, named the "Streak Society" after the in-app community for users who maintain a learning streak, is open from August 23 to August 25.

To enter the pop-up, guests must complete a Duolingo lesson, and once inside, they can play games, take photos with Duo, and even win prizes. The experience is designed to reflect the app's features, with longer learning streaks unlocking more opportunities within the store. For example, those with a 30-day or more streak can play a claw machine with a chance to win plushies and other prizes.

This initiative is part of Duolingo's strategy to expand its brand beyond the app and into the physical world, with the ambitious goal of making Duo as famous as Pikachu.

The pop-up store also comes at a time when Duolingo is experiencing significant growth, with a 41% increase in revenues in the second quarter compared to the same period a year ago, and a 52% growth in subscribers.
